Dwayna's Faction
Hi guys! I was thinking of this for a while regarding a problem in Guild wars. As i have played for 5 years since the beginning of Guild wars, i noticed a significant change in the number of players playing, especially in the first few campaigns/expansions of Guild wars. Most of the remaining players i know are mainly experienced players or players who like me, have played for quite a while. This means that new players are stuck to team with new players, as many of the experienced players are too busy gaining titles, farming, pvping. This leaves the new player to feel confused, isolated in their new game, unable to enjoy the full contents and fun of guildwars as no one have the time to teach them and are often raged on, kicked out or humiliated. I was thinking how to mix the two worlds again and i came up with Dwayna's Faction.
Dwayna's Faction is basically like Balthazar's faction, earned through deeds associated with the god's bidding. One way of the main ways of gaining Dwayna's faction is
+to help players who have not completed a mission or bonus, quests or dungeon. The amount of factions earned depends on difficulty, length and whether it's hard mode or normal mode.
+Donation NPC. A Donation NPC will collect only CERTAIN items which you can give such as exp scrolls or dyes. A new player can only collect a certain amount per week or month using "credits"
+Vanquishing, Bounty certain monsters, bosses of evil or corruption.
+Dwayna's Question NPC. A npc will hold list of questions from new players and for every answer by another players gains him points. If the player is selected as a best answer, more points will be given.
Dwayna's Faction can be exchanged for certain things like Balthazar Faction.
+Skills
+Items similar to Balthazar's
+For top 10 highest Dwayna's Faction weekly, a "Gift Of Dwayna" will be given to those players with a rare drop of Miniature "Avatar of Dwayna"
That's all i can think of for now
Hopefully this will make new comers feel more confident, happy and hopefully they will be with us for a longer time This is both awarding to new players and experienced players and hopefully a hierarchy of inexperienced and experienced players will be smaller.
The Title for Dwayna's faction:
1. Kind Heart
2. Blessed Soul
3. Bringer of Good
4. Touched by Dwayna
5. Follower of Dwayna
6. Priest of Dwayna
7. High Priest of Dwayna
8. Mouth of Dwayna
9. Avatar of Dwayna
10. Messiah of Dwayna
Thanks!

Players shouldn't need a title track as incentive to act nice to newer players. If they do act nice to other players for the title's sake, then they're doing it for the wrong reasons.

Who cares, the idea is to keep new players in the game and this isn't so bad.

I like it, hopefully others do also...
The gift idea is kind bad but maybe something of the sorts.

This.
And it would only introduce more hate towards newbs, who want to play slow-pace on their quests and missions, don't want to skip cutscenes/content etc.
The entire title, skills, minis and other rewards basically call for rushing newbs through content, in time-efficient manner.

Well. I like the idea, but i would change some things. First I don´t really like title, about a gift, I think it would be cool if u need like 5k factions to get gift which gives u party stuff, alco,... and has some chance to drop mini.
Second thing how would you know when you help someone who has´t done the quest?

Though it looks like a nice idea, I really fear the above would happen.

I think Shayne won the thread. Also, Dwayna loves all of us, She doesn't play favorites.
It's a fun-to-think-about idea but I don't think there is the right motivation behind it.

I think there should be times when players should rip into the minds and phycological damage the players who go out of the way to ruin other people's experience.
With that said, I'm not against this and I like helping players. It's just title hunting and low rewards that gives me different priorities. Oh yeah, the suggestion includes a new title...
Guild Wars should have more titles to choose from. I can't see how people can be against having options towards how they want to get their 30 titles.

We dont get titles for balth faction, so unless you make attaining the faction similar to that of lux/kurz i see no reason for a title track.
Also, the "top 10" is a stupid idea that will just make people grind the easiest mission, making it a hollow gift if its for the reasons you said

I like the idea. Too many experienced players are quitting GW because its getting boring. If a player had an incentive to stay in the game and help newer players, it might keep them around longer.
TBH, i dont play in-game much anymore; i might do the Zbounty or Wanted bounty now and then but the overall PvE play in GW has struck a "rock-bottom" point, at least for me.
If something like this were implemented, i would definitely want to play again. Helping the newer players is fun but i wouldnt just do it if i could be playing MW2 instead =/
Also, i definitely support the idea of a Miniature Avatar Of Dwayna

I don't get it, yeah its nice to be nice and help new players but what do you think "We" did when we started 4-5years ago we were on the same boat as the new players now, just only then we never had people that knew alot about the games either so we relied on each other to help each other in times of need and never had wiki to refer to either meh sorry for that
Edit: To the point though i dont think rewarding us for helping is a good idea its kinda selfish is it not ? the point in helping is to know that your doing something good not for our own gain :S

This turns acts of selflessness into acts of selfishness.
This would be easy abusable by people with free character slots or multiple accounts.
New players would never learn the game if they're rushed through content by experienced players at breakneck speed.

totally not. i am of the mind that new players should take their time in getting through all of the content. also, they have access to stuff i didn't when i started gw:
heroes
pve only skills
consumables
tomes
etc.

/not signed. There already are friendly, helpful people in GW helping newbies out for no other motive than being nice to someone. The potential reward of making new friend is already there.
Shane and Ugh hit the nail on the head with thier posts.

This won't make people care about new players, as mentioned previously.

Thanks for your feedbacks!
I know that this suggestion will only put on false "good" intentions regarding players helping newcomers. But even if they put on a false smile, a false open arm, atleast the players will still feel accompanied rather then especially those in prophecies playing in asia time zones, to just complete the campaign everyday with little or no help, no teammates. I have recently bought prophecies for a friend to try GW, everyday i would have to accompany him or else he really don't know whats going on.
Some people will abuse it, but some potential people just need that extra little push to have to "authentic" motivation to help people. As when two worlds meet, some will be bad, but some will be good. It's better then not meeting at all right?
To be honest, i haven't been to ascalon for months, but i miss those times where i will laugh and fall of my chair because of the naiveness and the sillyness of newcomers i enjoyed those times but now i admit i have developed an annoyance for newcomers as i'm too use to being with experienced players. Just imagine you as a new rookie going to a new Job, you wouldn't like it if all those workers thought you were a nuisance? Finding your time around is stressful, tiring and boring. Some will quit in worse circumstances.

You don't want everyone to build lifeless, irritated and raging characters like many people in Guildwars.
